City Gallery announces it first fall season exhibit titled “elementum” The theme was determined by curator Liz Pagano, a member of City Gallery and concerns Elementum, from the Latin translation of that which supports life. Known as the four basic elements earth (solid) water (liquid) fire (gas) and air (plasma). These elements have long been considered to be the building blocks of the universe. They are found in many philosophical systems including Native American, Alchemy, Astrology and tarot.
The Four Connecticut artists invited to show with Pagano have never shown at City Gallery.Leila Daw, Susan Newbold, Dorothy Powers and Suzan Shutan, all exhibit regionally, nationally and internationally. Each artist, brings a unique and personal vision using a variety of media, including works on paper, canvas, mixed media construction and installation. The work ranges from literal to abstract interpretations, focusing on one or more of the elements.
